
SANDAKAN: Firemen rescued a woman suspected of trying to take her own life at a ledge outside her fifth-floor apartment window, here, Saturday.
State Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations, Hamsa Isnurdini, said they received a call about the incident at 9.39am.
He said firemen had to use abseiling equipment to get the 22-year-old woman back in the apartment unit safely.
The woman was not injured and was later handed over to the police for further action, he added.

Meanwhile, a 76-year-old woman was found dead in her house at Taman Indah Jaya, here, Saturday.
The body was found after police requested help from the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department in opening the grilled door to the woman’s house at 4pm.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Severinus Sainkui said the team gained access by using a disc saw to open the grilled door.
The body has been handed over to the police for further action.
