KUALA LUMPUR – A woman in her 30s was taken to the hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties while attending the “Turun Anwar” rally today.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said the incident happened around 4pm at Dataran Merdeka and was believed to be caused by low blood sugar levels.
“She was given initial treatment at the scene before being taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) by our Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit for further action,” the department said.
The rally spanned five locations – Masjid Negara, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad, Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru and Kompleks Sogo – before converging at Dataran Merdeka.
PAS claimed a turnout of over 500,000, but police estimated the crowd at between 10,000 and 15,000 – despite it being a rainy day. Traffic diversions were enforced across 16 roads, with police and PAS’ Unit Amal maintaining order along the route.
Among those present include opposition heavyweights like former prime ministers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, as well as Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin. – July 26, 2025
