A CIVIL servant suffered injuries to her body and bruises on her face after she was believed to have been beaten by her husband, causing her to suffer a miscarriage.

The victim's brother, Mohd Firdaus Moktar, 45, said his 39-year-old sister was currently being treated at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) in Sungei Petani.

He said his sister married the 43-year-old man in December last year in a neighbouring country and had not registered their marriage in this country, reported Berita Harian.

"At around 1 pm last Thursday, my sister and her husband argued before my sister was beaten with a clothes hanger, a rubber pipe, a curtain rod and a broomstick until it broke.

"The incident left her left hand and finger broken, bruises on her face, and she was punched in the stomach," he said when contacted by BH.

Mohd Firdaus said the man also threatened to harm his family, including his sister's two children from a previous marriage.

He claimed the man stole his sister's jewellery and bank savings amounting to almost RM50,000.

Mohd Firdaus filed a police report with his mother, Norlelah Zainal, 64, at the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters (IPD).

He was informed that the suspect was also wanted by the police following a similar incident in Johor.

Meanwhile, Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, when contacted by BH confirmed receiving the report of the incident.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 323 / 18 of the Domestic Violence Act (AKRT) 2017. – April 25, 2026
