A woman in Singapore attempted to evade the bills in a hair salon and nail parlour by claiming she was the boss of both premises.

The matter was alerted to the police, and when the authorities were at the scene, the customer couldn’t name any of the employees at the scene. The woman refused to pay the bill worth SGD30 (approximately RM98) at the hair salon and another bill of a similar amount at the nail parlour.

In a report by Shin Ming Daily News, the business owner who ran both the mentioned salon and parlour said the customer had visited the places many times before the incident. However, it was her first time evading the bills, as she had no issues of paying the bills in the past.

After her haircut, the woman left the salon, and one of the employees thought she was going to withdraw some cash. The woman then returned to the nail parlour, which was just next to the salon.

When she was asked to pay both bills, she refused and said she “was the boss” of both outlets.

The employee saw no choice when the matter reached a stalemate but to seek help from the police, but that did not scare the woman. She told the police the same lie – she was the boss.

The woman promised that she would pay the total bill of SGD60 (approximately RM197) the next day, but she never returned. The business owner decided to share the matter on social media and urged the public to beware of the woman.

Not her first rodeo

Another cashier at a grocery nearby revealed that the woman had a somewhat similar modus operandi at the grocery, where her card was always declined during payment.

“She would ask if she could take the items home and pay for them next time,” the cashier said.

How would you handle the situation if you were the business owner?
