
Kota Kinabalu: The 50-year-old woman who was brutally assaulted and robbed in the back alley of a building on Friday is recuperating from her injuries.
“My back is full of bruises due to my repeated fall during the assault,” said Wong, adding the incident actually happened behind Jesselton Hotel in Jalan Gaya and not in the back alley of a bank.
The woman, who works at a bank, said she left her house early as usual to get a parking space in the city.
She parked behind the hotel and was walking when the incident happened around 6.30am.

Read more “The man was already standing near the area when I arrived to park. He started walking and so did I. I did not think anything suspicious,” she said.
She said the man suddenly hit her several times, causing her to fall before grabbing her handbag and fleeing.
“I shouted for help many times but there was nobody around.
“There were not many cars around at that time,” she said.
Meanwhile, Nazri, a 32-year-old hotel worker, said this was the first time such incident happened near the building.
He claimed to have seen the stick believed used in the robbery-cum-assault, which has been recovered by the police,” he said.
The suspect was apprehended on Sunday, according to Acting City Police Chief Supt Kalsom Idris in a statement on Monday.
Footages of the incident started making its round on social media on Monday, drawing public concern over the brazen nature of the crime.
