Woman who took £300k life savings from pensioner before going on the run jailed

  • Pamela Gwinnett, 63, has been handed an additional two months in prison for breaching her bail after spending 16 months on the run in Tenerife.
  • Gwinnett fled to Spain in April 2025, hours after her application to vary bail terms was refused, and was apprehended in July before being extradited.
  • She was previously convicted in her absence last October and sentenced to six years for theft and fraud, having conned vulnerable 89-year-old Joan Green out of approximately £300,000.
  • Gwinnett systematically plundered Mrs Green's life savings, controlling her finances and isolating her, using the money to fund an extravagant lifestyle.
  • Judge Michael Maher dismissed Gwinnett's apology, stating she treated the court process and Mrs Green with "utter contempt," and she has been ordered to repay the stolen funds.
