The survivor recalled hearing a loud bang after takeoff

Earlier, WORLD OF BUZZ reported that the cockpit had issued a mayday call, though the exact reason behind the distress signal remains unclear.

The sole survivor, Ramesh, recalled hearing a loud bang about 30 seconds after takeoff as the aircraft struggled to climb. His boarding pass showed he was seated at 11A, right next to the emergency exit.

When he regained consciousness, he was surrounded by bodies. A now-viral video captures the harrowing moment he walked away from the wreckage.

A woman missed her flight

After the tragedy, a woman who was supposed to be on the ill-fated flight shared how she narrowly escaped death after missing it by just 10 minutes, according to the Daily Mail.

Bhoomi Chauhan was headed to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to catch Air India Flight AI-171 to London, but got caught in heavy traffic and arrived 10 minutes late, just enough to miss boarding.

Moments after she was turned away at the gate, news of the devastating crash broke, and she recalled how she began “shivering badly” and her “legs started shaking”.

“My mind went numb after hearing the news”

The Gatwick-bound plane, carrying 242 passengers, reportedly appeared to lose control shortly after takeoff. It began a rapid descent with its nose pitched upward and landing gear still deployed.

Bhoomi said her “mind went numb” upon learning about the crash, just before she returned home. She had been vacationing in India while her husband remained in London.

Aviation experts believe the aircraft may have suffered a sudden power loss during the most critical phase of flight.
