RAMALLAH: A woman suffering from cancer was among 16 Palestinians detained by Israeli occupation forces in the occupied West Bank on Saturday, raising the total detained since the launch of the Israeli war on Oct 7 to 4,520, according to prisoners’ groups.

The Palestine News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported that the woman, identified as Faten Majed Masalmeh, 21, originally from Gaza but currently married and residing in the West Bank.

She was arrested at an army checkpoint south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus after seeking medical treatment.

She was apparently arrested because of her Gaza origins, despite residing in the West Bank for the last three years, said her husband, who was present during her arrest.

He mentioned that the soldiers refused to allow Faten to take her medicine with her.

The others were detained in Bethlehem, Jericho, Tulkarm, Ramallah, Hebron, and Jerusalem governorates, said the groups. - Bernama
