Troubles seem to have mounted for Mayor Inderjit Kaur’s husband, Ravi Anand, as Punjab State Women’s Commission on Friday asked the Commissioner of Police (CP) to probe sexual harassment allegations against him.
Commission chairperson Raj Lali Gill asked CP Swapan Sharma to submit a report within 20 days.
The issue pertains to a complaint filed by a woman principal, who had alleged Anand sent her obscene messages.
Gill directed for an “impartial” probe by a senior official and for a copy of the report to be given to the complainant.
As per the commission’s directive, the facts presented in the complaint should be examined from every possible angle and both parties should record their statements with the police.
The commission asked the CP to furnish details of any FIRs filed related to the matter.
Talking to the media, the woman alleged police refused to listen to her, which pushed her to file a complaint with the women’s commission.
