THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced a plan to establish the country’s first integrated women’s crisis center in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

The initiative, a partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Congressional Spouses Foundation Inc. (CSFI), aims to bring health care, protection and residential support services under one survivor-centered system for victims of gender-based violence.

“We are deeply grateful for this partnership with the women legislators, CSFI, DOH, the local government of Muntinlupa, and all our stakeholders who share the same vision of protecting and empowering women,” DSWD Assistant Secretary Ada Colico said as she guided partners on a visit to the Haven for Women, a 24-hour residential care facility established in 1995.

“This initiative addresses a long-standing gap by ensuring that women survivors no longer have to move from one facility to another to receive the care they need,” she added.

Architectural plans presented during the visit showed a connected DSWD and DOH complex designed to integrate medical and residential services in one compound. Officials said funding for the project has already been allocated.
