Work on Pagalungan CIQS complex starts

KENINGAU: Construction work on the Customs, Immigration, Quarantine and Security (CIQS) Complex building at the Malaysia-Indonesia border at Kampung Bantul in the Pagalungan Nabawan subdistrict is underway.

Pensiangan MP Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said initial work involving clearing and levelling the land has already begun.

In the 2025 budget announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in October last year, a total of RM560 million was provided to strengthen the country’s borders.

Read more Among them was building and upgrading ICQS’s in Rantau Panjang and Bukit Berapit as well as building two new border posts in Bantul and Serudung and supplying enforcement agencies with drone and AI technology to increase the reach of areas that can be monitored.

Earlier in his speech officiating the ceremony, Arthur said that the cooperation between civil servants and state and federal government leaders must be continued for the sake of development of the people in the second largest constituency in the state.

Retirees were also among the recipients of special awards and appreciation to the staff of the Nabawan District Office and the Pagalungan Sub-District Office.
