RANAU: The work to repair the road between Ranau and Tambunan which was almost cut off due to the recent landslide is now almost complete.
The restoration efforts by the Public Works Department (JKR) have relieved the concerns of users including residents who live near the location.
Many road users as well as villagers here praised JKR for acting immediately to repair the landslide that occurred.
A resident, Luhineh Kijamal, whose house with a bus stop hut is located not far from the landslide, was initially quite worried.

Fortunately, said Luhineh, there is positive action from JKR to repair the damage to the road as soon as possible because this can ease the fears of the residents here.
“What the residents were worried is that there is no effort to repair the landslide. This is because it could cause the Ranau and Tambunan route to be cut off,” she added.
Meanwhile, regarding another collapsed road, Ranau District Officer, Jumain Abd Ghani said, the temporary detour on Jalan Tenompok Bundu Tuhan at Km 5.24 is now passable.
“The road can be passed by small and light vehicles, however, the repair work is still being done by the authorities,” he said on his Facebook post.
The road collapsed at about 6.30am on October 7 following heavy rain that fell non-stop before the incident happened.
