Kota Kinabalu: A group of workers staged a protest outside the Boulevard 360 project’s office and sales gallery in Bundusan claiming they had not been paid their wages.
Despite management’s efforts to disperse the group, the workers remained defiant, resulting in police being called.
According to a police report filed the same day by a 37-year-old manager, the gathering took place at 8.30am and the wage dispute is unrelated to developer Borneo Kemuncak Riang Sdn Bhd.
Earlier, one of the company’s directors was said to be allegedly assisting the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in an ongoing investigation.
The event triggered fears in social media that the project may have been abandoned.
However, Borneo Kemuncak Riang Sdn Bhd released a formal statement reaffirming the company’s commitment to the project.
“The management acknowledges that the MACC investigation has caused temporary operational disruptions, resulting in slower on-site progress.
“However, the company firmly rejected any claims of abandonment as entirely false and without basis,” it said.
The company said efforts are ongoing to stabilise operations and restore normal work momentum, assuring purchasers and stakeholders that completion remains the organisation’s top priority.
They urged purchasers and the public to rely on the company’s official communication channels to avoid misinformation.
