
RANAU: A house and a food processing workshop were destroyed in a fire at Kg Langkau in the wee hours on Saturday.
Head of BBP Ranau Station, PPgB Ridwan bin Mohd Taib said the incident happened at about 12.20am.
“The call was received through the MERS999 line at 12.27am and a group of 7 firemen led by the Operations Commander, PBK II Backet Gumat rushed to the location.
“Arriving at the scene which is located 20km from the station, we found a semi-permanent house and a food processing workshop ablaze.

“The public needs to prioritise safety first because fire in an open area could easily become uncontrollable and turn disastrous with the risk of losing valuable assets, homes and even lives.
“If there is any open burning that cannot be avoided, it must be monitored and controlled, in order to prevent the spread of fire to nearby areas,” he said.

He said every fire and rescue personnel in the district is on standby and ready to act upon any fire incident in the district considering the high risk condition taking place right now.
