World court is not the venue for Sulu claim: Armizan

Kota Kinabalu: Bringing a claim on Sabah by so-called Sulu heirs to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) as suggested is not suitable, said Sabah and Sarawak affairs minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

He said the matter does not fall under the jurisdiction of the ICJ because it is an individual claim while the world court only hears legal disputes between nations.

Armizan said another reason is that Malaysia is not initiating any claims on Sabah as the state is part of Malaysia.

The suggestion had been made by Warisan president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.
