Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Housing and Real estate Developers Association (Shareda President and Remajaya Managing Director, Datuk Sr Chua Soon Ping, was one of three recipients of the World Sustainability Leadership Excellence Award presented by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Monday.

The ceremony was held in conjunction with the opening of the World Green and Sustainability Summit 2023 with the theme “Building a Better Future Through Green Growth”.

It was jointly organised by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, the World Green Organisation, the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia and Brunei, the World Business Chamber, The Asean Economic Club, the World Digital Chamber and hosted by the Sarawak Government.

The summit was attended by 300 participants at UCSI Hotel in Kuching where Abang Jo presented 22 awards for nine various categories to individuals and corporate groups for their excellence and leadership in green initiatives and development.

The World Summit aspires to advance and promote public-private-people partnership to achieve green growth for a sustainable, inclusive and a clean and better world.

It addresses strategic issues and key challenges in promoting partnerships for climate action and accelerating the business community’s pivot towards sustainable investment, green finance and green growth.

Held before the 2024 UN Climate Change Conference in November, the summit serves as a meeting of minds to promote interaction among key players.

Sessions covered key issues and relevant topics on greening the world, green energy transitions, technologies, cities, finance and carbon market exchange. The summit also showcased Sarawak’s various initiatives.
