World’s first Minecraft hotel and theme park set for London 2027

The voxelated universe of Mojang Studio’s Minecraft is officially stepping out of the screen and into reality.

Merlin Entertainments has announced that the world’s first Minecraft World theme park land and hotel will officially open in 2027 at the Chessington World of Adventures Resort just outside London.

Destined to bring the block-building sandbox game to physical life, the ambitious multi-million-pound expansion promises an immersive escape for families and longtime fans alike. At the heart of the new land is a nearly 70-room themed hotel, designed to mimic the game’s distinctive biomes. Guests will be able to continue their daytime adventures overnight, surrounded by decor that mirrors the game’s signature aesthetic, alongside an immersive themed restaurant and bar.

Adrenaline seekers will find their thrills on Escape the Nether, slated to be the world’s first Minecraft rollercoaster. Featuring both indoor and outdoor segments, the coaster will hurtle riders through signature hazards and environments inspired by the game’s notoriously challenging underworld dimension. Construction is already actively underway on the site—currently transforming what was a gravel mound into towering physical manifestations of pixelated terrain, complete with upcoming family-friendly rides, interactive retail shops, and dynamic live-action experiences.

By bridging the gap between digital creativity and physical entertainment, the Chessington project represents a massive leap forward for video game adaptations in the tourism sector. Whether visitors are looking to explore brick-built landscapes, ride through fiery volcanic realms, or simply sleep inside a life-sized gaming biome, the upcoming 2027 opening ensures that the world’s most successful video game will finally have a tangible home. As construction clips roll in and anticipation builds, fans worldwide are ready to see how their favorite digital creations translate into brick-and-mortar reality.
