LAHAD DATU: The increase in the price of rice has caused anxiety among the people who believe it will still have an effect even though the 40 per cent increase only involves imported white rice.
A random Daily Express survey here found although people can still buy local rice, stocks are difficult to find. Recently, Padiberas Nasional Berhad (Bernas) announced an adjustment in the sale price of imported white rice.
The sale price of imported white rice is now set at RM3,200 per metric ton compared to the previous price of RM2,350.
