THE wreckage of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) AS355N helicopter that crashed near Sungai Pulai, Gelang Patah, on Thursday has not yet been recovered from the site, as investigations continue.
According to checks by BH Online, two black floats have been placed to mark the site of the submerged wreckage, which lies close to the mouth of the river.
The Ministry of Transport’s Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU) and the PDRM Air Operations Force (PGU) are actively conducting investigations at the site before any attempt is made to lift the aircraft.
The helicopter, bearing registration number 9M-PHG, crashed near the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) jetty in Gelang Patah during a flypast demonstration held as part of the MITSATOM 2025 joint exercise involving Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed the incident involved an AS355N twin-engine helicopter operated by PDRM.
It had departed from Tanjung Kupang Police Station at 9.51 am with five personnel on board, including the pilot.
Two of the five crew members are reported to be in critical condition.
Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, said, “Two victims are currently receiving assisted ventilation, while the remaining three are in stable condition.”
The crew consisted of two senior police officers and three rank-and-file personnel, including the pilot from Bukit Aman’s PGU and officers from Tanjung Kupang Police Station. - July 11, 2025
