Gini Wijnaldum was critical of the Netherlands despite his two goals helping them past Belarus on Sunday.
The Liverpool midfielder scored twice, including a long-range thunderbolt, to clinch a 2-1 victory for the Oranje.
Speaking to NOS, Wijnaldum said after the win: "We can do much better, we showed that in the last matches. We thought it too easily in the second half, so we still gave them hope.
"It's very frustrating. I think we thought about it too easily. That was certainly the case in the second half. We were leading 2-0 against a team that is worse than our previous opponents."
On why he is being critical of a victory, Wijnaldum added: "We have to be critical, because at the European Championship you play against the best teams in Europe and this can be fatal."
