Xbox has officially revealed the nano controller. Cute as a button, it’s the smallest controller Xbox has ever made, making it perfect for gaming on the go, younger players and those with smaller hands.
It can connect to a range of different devices, including Xbox consoles, PCs, VR headsets, smart TVs and smartphones. That means if players want to use it on the go, or even take a controller over to a friend or family member’s house to play, then it’s way easier to do thanks to its compact design.
Although it’s smaller in size, it still has all of the inputs you’d expect to find on a standard Xbox controller. That means you won’t have to re-learn how to use the controller, it still has a familiar button layout and controls you’re used to, despite the controller’s much smaller footprint. Here’s a look at everything we know so far about the Xbox nano controller.

Xbox nano controller
Release date: 4 November 2026
The Xbox nano controller is only slightly more than 5in in length and weighs just under 100g. It features all 18 standard gameplay inputs and is laid out in the same way as a standard Xbox controller, just in a smaller package.
The focus of the design is for players who want to play on the go or who have smaller hands, making it a great option for younger players too.
The Xbox nano controller has a programmable Action Button which can be customised for features such as screenshots, gameplay capture and other shortcuts. It includes Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth support, making it compatible across a range of devices.
It has an internal rechargeable lithium ion battery but the product does not come with a USB-C cable required to charge it, but you’ve probably got plenty lying around. The controller costs £44.99 and goes on sale on 4 November. Pre-orders are open now.
