Mobile gaming is a huge industry – and finding the best smartphone that’s able to run all the games smoothly without breaking the bank – that’s a huge challenge. But the new Xiaomi 15T Pro surpassed my expectations when it comes to exceptional mobile gaming prowess at an affordable price.
The core specs of this new smartphone is as listed below:
- MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset
- Octa-core configuration
- 1x 3.73GHz Cortex-X925
- 3x 3.30GHz Cortex-X4
- 4x 2.40GHz Cortex-A720
- Mali-G925 Immortalis GPU
- Octa-core configuration
- 12GB LPDDR5X (RAM amount doesn’t matter much, but RAM speed matters)
- Up to 1TB of storage
- 5,500mAh battery
- 90W charger
Superb gaming capability
Doing our usual gaming test, the Xiaomi 15T Pro really did surpass my expectations. We already know that the base version MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is very good, but the Dimensity 9400+ is a true upgrade.
I initially thought that the Xiaomi 3D IceLoop System wouldn’t matter as it would thermal throttle eventually – but I was wrong. It was really difficult to reach the thermal limit, and it was even more difficult to realize that it was thermal throttling because there were no major frame rate fluctuations at all.
Genshin Impact is amazing. At the highest graphical settings with a render resolution of 1920×886 pixels, we are getting basically 60fps consistently throughout the entire 40-minute gameplay session. Since the Xiaomi 15T Pro also supports Vulkan API on Genshin Impact, the performance and efficiency improved drastically compared to the previous OpenGL.
The first part of the test was just walking around and doing the quests – and that ran 60fps consistently.
The second part is when we’re treasure-hunting at the new summer holiday island – and that also ran 60fps consistently too. Surprisingly, even when we’re zipping around, engaging in combat, and solving puzzles – the frame rate is still at 60fps consistently.
We also went in to the Abyss and completed two floors – and that is also at 60fps with no frame drops. I’m just amazed by how great the frame rates is.
Looking at the data we’ve gathered, the power draw to achieve this frame rate is also very low, at only around 3.9W average while we were doing the quest, and about 5.4W while exploring the new area. Such things do happen, as the newer areas in these live-service games will be much more graphically demanding compared to the older areas.
Zenless Zone Zero is definitely one of the most demanding games in recent times as it will humble even the most powerful phones that is available in the market today. Surprisingly, the Xiaomi 15T Pro can actually handle it very well. The frame rate did fluctuate, but within a small range. It does hover around 50fps most of the time, and doing our usual flower boss fight as the test – it was very smooth.
For such a demanding game, it made the Zenless Zone Zero consume around 6.80W average. While it is indeed high, it never showed signs of thermal throttling. Somehow for this game in particular, it can reach 47.6°C.
Wuthering Waves also has the ability to switch over to Vulkan API – and playing it at the highest graphical settings, we can get around 40-50fps. We flew around and the loading speed was great. The gameplay was super smooth and I also did a lot of graphically-intensive combat too. It was amazing as there were no fluctuations even when it did hit the thermal limit of 45.5°C.
Charging speed
When we’re out of juice while gaming, then we can also just connect the included 90W charger to quickly top it back to 100%. We did not have any included charger in the box last year for the Xiaomi 14T Pro – so it’s interesting to see Xiaomi bringing it back. From our test, it only takes around 50 minutes to charge completely. So maybe take a break, take a quick shower, and grab a snack. It’ll be done charging by then.
If we did turn on the fastest charging speed in the settings menu, it can be charged completely at an even faster speed.
But what if you want to plug it into the charger while gaming? It’s very unhealthy for the battery, and that’s why Xiaomi introduced a feature called “Slow Charging”. As the name suggests, it limits the charging speed to prevent excess heat generated from charging the battery, and that will be much healthier for the phone and also your fingers.
Battery life
Honestly though, the charging speed isn’t going to be a problem. Even gaming for about 2 hours across multiple different games, we’re only down around 44% of battery capacity. The MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ is really powerful and efficient at the same time. Remember, the Xiaomi 15T Pro is also equipped with a 5,500mAh battery.
When we’re not gaming, the battery life is also fantastic. In our standardized test, we can get around 16.5 hours. In our database of the phones we reviewed, this number is actually very good.

I honestly do believe that the Xiaomi 15T Pro is an amazing phone for those who are seeking for an affordable yet extremely powerful smartphone that can last you for years.
