Xiaomi has begun mass-producing its self-developed Xring O1 mobile chipset, according to founder Lei Jun. Taking to his personal Weibo account, Lei Jun said that the first two products to feature the Xring O1 will be the Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra tablet.

Xiaomi is only the fourth smartphone brand globally to develop its own SoC, following Apple (Apple Silicon), Samsung (Exynos), and HUAWEI (Kirin).

The Xring O1 is built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm node and developed using ARM architecture. Xiaomi reportedly invested 13.5 billion yuan ($1.87 billion) in the chip’s development, and is prepared to invest at least 50 billion yuan more ($6.9 billion) over the next 10 years.

It’s still early days, but benchmark leaks of the Xring O1 are beginning to surface, with many scores indicating that it performs on par with the Snapdragon 8 Elite – Qualcomm’s fastest-ever chipset. As reported by SamMobile, a leaked Geekbench 6 result showed the Xring O1 scoring 3,119 points in the single-core CPU test and 9,673 points in the multi-core test.
