Xpeng G7 SUV Nets 10,000 Pre-Orders in Under an Hour – Could It Come to Malaysia Next?

Xpeng Motors has once again captured attention with the stunning debut of its new mid-size SUV, the Xpeng G7, which received over 10,000 pre-orders within just 46 minutes of its launch in China. With Bermaz Auto already distributing Xpeng models in Malaysia, including the G6 and X9, local EV enthusiasts are eager to know: Will the G7 be the next model to hit Malaysian roads?

Positioned between the G6 and flagship G9 in Xpeng’s SUV lineup, the G7 offers a compelling mix of design, performance, and technology. It measures 4,892 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, and 1,655 mm tall, with a generous 2,890 mm wheelbase, making it a spacious choice for families and tech-savvy drivers alike.

Built on an 800V high-voltage platform, both the Max and Ultra variants of the G7 come standard with 5C fast-charging capabilities and boast an impressive CLTC range of up to 702 km. The real innovation, however, lies in its advanced computing power.

The G7 Max variant is powered by dual Nvidia Orin X chips, while the Ultra variant debuts Xpeng’s in-house Turing AI chips—three of them, to be exact. Xpeng claims a single Turing chip matches the performance of three conventional smart driving chips, giving the Ultra version a total computing power exceeding 2,200 TOPS. This makes the G7 the first production car in the world with L3-level AI capability, putting it ahead in the global autonomous driving race.

Tech lovers will also appreciate that the G7 is the first vehicle to feature a new HUD system co-developed with Huawei, enhancing the driving experience with sharp visuals and real-time data.

With a starting pre-sale price of RMB 235,800 (~RM153,000) in China, the G7 slots neatly between the G6 and G9, making it a highly attractive option in terms of performance-to-price ratio. Given the success of the Xpeng G6 and X9 in Malaysia, and Bermaz Auto’s growing commitment to the EV segment, there’s strong speculation that the G7 may be the next to join Xpeng’s Malaysian lineup. If it does, it could become one of the most advanced AI-powered EVs on sale in the country.
