Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits they've been vulnerable this season against counter-attacks.

Previewing his side's Premier League trip to Newcastle, the manager discussed the Champions' defensive situation, declaring he would like to witness an improvement in the way his side defend counter-attacks.

Asked to specify an area in which he felt needed addressing, Guardiola replied: "Counter-attacks - maybe they know what they have to do a bit better.

"Against Shakhtar, we were much better - in the second half, they have one shot and nothing else.

"We have to adjust a little bit to this situation. The players know but it's a little complicated to explain.

"I cannot explain. We need a board and a machine to explain. When we lost the ball, we have to stop the counter-attack together - but sometimes, we lost the ball in positions we can't lose it.

"We want to attack quicker with more passes. There is not just one thing - it's one thing and another that helps us to be more solid as a team.

"In the last two games, it happens and will will try to adjust. We know what has happened in the past but we are a more solid team."
