Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Islamic Propagation Foundation (Yadim) will increase the number of preachers (da’i) in Sabah to 40 by the end of this month, as part of its effort to strengthen Islamic outreach, particularly in rural areas.

Yadim Sabah Director, Mohd Tabi’in Sahri, said there are currently 28 da’i stationed across districts, conducting daily field activities such as Al-Quran and Fardu Ain (Kafa) classes for all age groups.

“God willing, by the end of August the number will be brought to 40 to strengthen Islamic outreach in the interior,” he said after a courtesy call on Head of State, Tun Musa Aman, recently.

Among the key programmes this year are seminars and symposiums on the Madani concept for Kafa teachers throughout the state, which will also be extended to Rela members.

The courtesy visit also aimed to express Yadim’s intention to enhance collaboration with the Head of State in promoting Islamic values across various sectors.

Yadim President, Datuk Dr Hasan Bahrom, emphasised that the organisation’s approach is rooted in moderation, making Islamic teachings more accessible to Malaysia’s multiracial society, especially the youth.

“This is in line with the Malaysia Madani aspiration. We’re using digital platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and WhatsApp to bring our message closer to the younger generation,” he said.

Hasan also said Yadim is committed to strengthening the structure and relevance of religious schools and tahfiz institutions within the mainstream education system.

Also present were Yadim CEO, Zamri Zainal Abidin, and Yadim Board of Trustees member, Sainuri Yahmin.
