The Cyber Cell of the Yamunanagar district police has recovered 50 lost mobile phones in April.
Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal and the Cyber Cell team handed over the phones to their owners.
The SP said people should immediately lodge a complaint if they lose their phones so that the devices could not be misused.
“The district police’s Cyber Cell is playing a vital role in cracking down on crime and criminals. It has done a commendable job by gathering crucial clues and recovering 50 lost mobile phones worth about Rs 10 lakh,” said SP Kamaldeep Goyal.
He called the owners to his office and handed them over the phones.
The owners expressed their gratitude and praised the Cyber Cell team for recovering the phones.
Cyber Cell in-charge Sub-Inspector Shubham, Head Constables Rahul, Manish, Tarsem and other team members were present on the occasion.
“The owners are happy to get their phones back. Their phones have been saved from falling into the hands of criminals,” the SP said, adding that police investigations often revealed that criminals often used lost and stolen mobile phones for malicious purposes.
He also appealed to the general public to keep their mobile phones safe and not hand them over to any unknown person. The SP further appealed to citizens that if they find a mobile phone anywhere, they should deposit it at the nearest police station or police post.
“The technical team can trace the phone’s real owner through its IMEI number and other information,” the SP said.
