Singer and composer Yasin Sulaiman has returned home after more than four years at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta following his Court of Appeal acquittal.

PETALING JAYA: After more than four years, singer and composer Yasin Sulaiman has been allowed to return home to his family after undergoing treatment at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Perak.

The news was shared by his friend and former Brothers bandmate, Akbar Azmi, in a post on Threads last night.

According to Akbar, Yasin, whose real name is Muhammad Yasin Sulaiman, 51, was on his way home after being discharged from the hospital.

“Alhamdulillah, finally, after more than four years, Yasin Sulaiman, better known as Yasin Brothers, has been allowed to return home from the hospital.

“Ya Allah, that was a long time. His child has also grown up. Alhamdulillah, he was supposed to serve 30 years and had previously been convicted and sentenced to prison.

“This is all by the will of Allah SWT. Yasin has been released today,” he said in the post.

Akbar also said he had contacted Yasin to find out about his current condition.

“I called him earlier. He is on his way and is near Tapah. Wait for my latest update with him later. Insya-Allah. We are very happy,” he said.

On April 28 last year, Yasin was reported to have been acquitted and discharged by the Court of Appeal, but was ordered to be placed back at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta until the Sultan of Selangor gave his consent.

The decision was made by a three-member panel chaired by judge Che Mohd Ruzima Ghazali, together with Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah and Datuk Azmi Ariffin, after allowing the composer’s final appeal.

The Court of Appeal also set aside the Shah Alam High Court’s decision, which had previously sentenced him to life imprisonment and 16 strokes of the cane after finding him guilty of three drug-related charges.
