PENAMPANG: Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) on Thursday donated RM100,000 to 250 families and five schools in Penamang affected by the floods last month.

In a statement, YBR said the donations were presented by Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, who is also Penampang Member of Parliament, at Dewan Huguan Siou Tuavon, here.

Each family will receive RM200 while the schools will get RM10,000 each, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, Ewon, in the same statement, said the noble effort will hopefully give some relief to the families affected.

YBR Chairman Datuk Philip Benedict Lasimbang also hoped that the aid would be able to provide some relief for those affected.

He said YBR will work to provide more assistance to ease the burden of those affected.

“YBR is very concerned and aware of the financial burden, especially by those in the B40 group,” he said.

This year, YBR allocated RM600,000 for donations to help the less fortunate and aims to improve the socio-economic well-being of the recipients through education development, community empowerment and healthcare assistance.
