Yayasan TZA receives RM3.5m to enhance education, community initiatives

KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 - Yayasan TZA has received around RM3.5 million from sponsors and strategic partners to strengthen various community development programmes encompassing education, health, and outreach, said foundation adviser Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

During the foundation’s appreciation ceremony, he said these funds would help the foundation expand its high-impact programmes, especially in education.

The Yayasan TZA appreciation ceremony was attended by Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, with Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari also present.

Tengku Zafrul said among the main initiatives run by Yayasan TZA is the ACE SPM free tuition programme, which has so far helped around 460 students in 10 Selangor schools, who are from B40 households, improve their academic performance.

“Previously, we did a pilot project in 10 schools and after this we plan to increase it to 20 schools, and in terms of students, we will try to increase (the number) twofold with the Education Ministry’s cooperation.

“Before this we only (taught) three subjects, and after discussing with the Education Ministry, they asked us to add the English subject.

“There is also a recommendation to expand (ACE SPM) to other states including Penang, Perak, and such,” Tengku Zafrul said when met at the event here today.

Besides education, he said Yayasan TZA executes various initiatives including for entrepreneurs, sustainability, and food aid for the B40 community, adding that community outreach is being strengthened through the Larian KITA programme.

Tengku Zafrul explained that Larian KITA has been held in three Selangor districts and will continue in Klang in October.

Yayasan TZA, which was set up in 2022, is a non-governmental organisation that focuses on efforts to address social, economic and environmental challenges through education, poverty eradication, conservation, and community welfare programmes.
