Kota Kinabalu: Minister of Community Development and People’s Wellbeing (KPMKR) and Sugut Assemblyman, Datuk James Ratib, received a courtesy call from representatives of Paitan district churches, here, last Sunday.
In his speech, James emphasised the role of religious leaders in the district churches on human development.
“What is important here is that I want all the churches, associations and denominations in Sugut to be able to help me and the District Officer to jointly develop not only in terms of religion but also in terms of the development of our people.
“In Sugut, we are still far behind. Of course, the people hope for development so their fate will change,” he said.
He also urged the religious practitioners to lead a morally-right life.
“We need to avoid bad things like slander. As people who adhere to religion, we know how to judge what is slander and what is real.
“We can also judge which leaders are transparent and truly capable of leading and helping the people,” he said.
He thanked the representatives of churches in the district for spending time with him.
