YBR allocates RM3m to improve education standards in Sabah next year

KOTA BELUD: Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) is allocating RM3 million in Sabah next year to improve education for underprivileged students, particularly in rural areas.

In a statement, YBR announced that the funding is part of the foundation's efforts to eradicate poverty through education, with Sabah being the state with the highest poverty rate in Malaysia.

AdvertisementThe assistance will benefit individuals from the asnaf group and those in the B40 category, particularly in the areas of Kota Belud, Kota Marudu, and Kudat. It is expected that over 65,000 students will benefit from the Sabah Education Development Programme 2025 initiative.

"YBR will continue to support the development of human capital in Sabah, particularly among students, through education. Throughout 2024, YBR has allocated RM20.4 million for educational and community development programmes nationwide," according to the statement.

Read more The presentation of the mock cheque for the programme was carried out by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, and Yayasan Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Philip Benedict Lasimbang today.

The event was held during the Ministry of Entrepreneurial and Cooperatives Development (Kuskop) Madani Programme with the Kota Belud community, in conjunction with the Kadamaian 2024 Christmas Open House.
