Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) Sultan Ibrahim has a clear message for those who have reservations about Bahasa Melayu (BM) being the national language in the education system: accept it or be “shipped” out.

He made the comments during the opening ceremony of the 2026 Parliament session today, reported Kosmo!.

‘BM and M’sian history must be accepted’

His Majesty said that proposals to recognise any other education system must first accept BM and Malaysian history.

He added that the national education system must continue to be strengthened as a means of nation-building, fostering national identity, and securing the country’s future.

“If a new education system is to be introduced, it must be aligned with the National Education Policy, where BM is the main lingua franca as it is the national language.

If anyone does not accept BM, it is better that they do not live in Malaysia.”

Called for stronger technological measures

Meanwhile, His Majesty also urged for stronger control over technology to prevent scams that could threaten public order.

“The threats of serious crime and terrorism, as well as acts touching on ‘3R’ issues (race, religion, royalty), must be dealt with effectively.

“Laws related to national security and foreign threats should be enacted promptly so that harmony among all races and the sovereignty of the nation will always be preserved.”
