Police confirm a 12-year-old student died in hospital after fainting during a school assembly, with no criminal elements detected.

SHAH ALAM: Police have confirmed the death of a year six student at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang after fainting during an assembly at a school in Kapar, yesterday.

North Klang district police chief ACP S. Vijaya Rao said the 12-year-old victim was confirmed dead at the hospital after being taken for follow-up treatment.

“The victim was reported to have fainted at about 8.30 am during an assembly at the school before being taken to HTAR for follow-up treatment. However, the victim was later confirmed dead at the hospital,” he said when contacted today.

Vijaya Rao said the results of the autopsy conducted on the child found that no criminal elements were detected in connection with the incident.

“So far, the cause of death has not been confirmed due to pending laboratory investigations and the case is classified as sudden death (SDR),” he said.
