PENAMPANG: The Tamu Suara 360 Programme serves as an ideal platform for youths to voice their opinions and share ideas for the betterment of the State, said Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.

He said the initiative provides space for the younger generation to express their aspirations directly to the government, particularly on matters related to youth development.

“When we discuss positive ideas, there are many benefits that can be gained for the State and society, especially for young people.

“This programme is one of the best platforms for youths to express their views and aspirations directly to the government.

“The government must listen to the voices of young people because they touch on many aspects – not only youth development but also socio-economic issues, community building, identity and the overall direction of State administration.

“However, merely listening without execution is cosmetic. What we need is a balance between ideas and action,” he told reporters after officiating the event at the Hongkod Koisaan KDCA Hall, here, recentlyKhairul added that the government should continue to provide opportunities for young people as this is a crucial phase in shaping their lives.

“What’s most important is how we guide and educate our youths so they become valuable assets to the State in the future,” he said.

At the same time, he reminded youths not to blindly follow unsuitable foreign cultures, but instead to return to their roots and embrace their own traditions.

“Youths today are exposed to a wide range of information and influences, but what’s important is that we must always return to our cultural identity and values,” he added.

The programme was attended by about 500 youths, including secondary school students, university undergraduates, youth association members and teacher trainees.

Among those present were Huguan Siou Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Sabah Motac Director Ibrahim Othman, Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry Officer Pamela Joan George, Sabah Youth Council President Abqaree Fawwaz Abekan and KDCA Youth Council Chairman Steve Johnny Mositun.
