Liverpool winger Sadio Mane is refusing to get worked up about a lack of personal accolades.

Mane has been one of the most consistent performers for the Reds in the past 12 to 18 months.

But he has not received the same type of press that Mohamed Salah got when he was at the peak of his powers.

Mane was the joint top scorer in the Premier League last season, while he has continued that form this term.

"As I said before, I do not focus on individual distinctions, the collective results are more important to me," said the Liverpool forward to reporters.

"The choices were made [for the Ballon d'Or].

"I wasn't chosen, the players in the awards had exceptional seasons, they deserved to be there, I congratulate these players.

"I think it's a strong message for me to work harder.

"I accept, it's hard for me to to say that I deserve to be there, I'm modest enough for that, and the thing is, the choices have been made and I respect them. I will tell you that I deserve to be there but..."
