Everton have lost Jean Philippe-Gbamin for up to three months.
The summer signing from Mainz underwent thigh surgery in France on Tuesday.
Gbamin played against Crystal Palace and Watford in August before getting injured.
Everton are currently 18th in the table having won only two of their first eight Premier League matches this season.
