DATUK Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said there have been discussions about his party membership, but no decision has been made.
However, in a Facebook post today, he denied that any of the discussions involved party positions.
"I have discussed my party membership with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“I adhere to the principle that when I make a decision, I will do so with great courtesy and officially inform my party's leadership,” said the Investment, Trade and Industry Minister.
Anwar, who is also the PKR president, had earlier confirmed that there was a discussion with the Umno Supreme Council member on the possibility of the latter joining PKR.
"PKR has always been open. Some of our leaders were once with Amanah or DAP before joining us, and similarly, others have moved to and from these parties.
"We have maintained a good relationship and made these transitions smooth," he told reporters after the PKR Congress in Shah Alam.
However, Anwar said the discussions were still in the preliminary stages.
Zafrul said "I am part of a team that is and will continue to implement the best policies for the people.
"I also believe and am confident the unity government is built on a strong foundation of cooperation and tolerance.
"It is a government which can accept the views and opinions of the various component parties without disruption to the main objective of steering the nation to greater harmony".
He added that it was important for everyone to remain focused on ensuring good policies for the people, ones that can build and not destroy the nation. - December 15, 2024
