Zahid denies BN-PN-GPS-GRS meeting rumours, reaffirms Unity Government commitment

BARISAN Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that leaders from BN, Perikatan Nasional (PN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) held a meeting on Monday.

Zahid said he was unaware of any such gathering and reaffirmed that BN's position remained unchanged, with the coalition continuing to support the Unity Government until the 16th General Election.

"No, I don't know. I have no knowledge of the matter. I checked with the Home Minister as well, and based on the sources available, there is no such thing. I do not know about it, there is nothing," he told reporters after attending the 104th Immigration Day celebration in Cyberjaya.

Earlier, claims had circulated on social media suggesting that BN, PN, GPS and GRS were expected to hold a press conference at 2pm on Monday.

However, the information, which cited unnamed sources, did not specify the purpose of the alleged press conference.

Zahid, who is also UMNO president, said the party's stance was in line with the resolution adopted at the UMNO General Assembly.

"That is our position and the resolution that we brought to the General Assembly. There is no body higher than the General Assembly, and we fully respect that decision.

"So, we hope there is no need to worry," he said. - July 21, 2026
