Kota Kinabalu: Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi hopes Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor will consider returning the posts of several Umno leaders who lost them due to participating in a failed coup attempt earlier this year.

He also called on the people to join Barisan Nasional (BN) along with Warisan and Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) in “sustaining the current stable Unity Government”.

“We must find a way to return them (positions). This is matter worth our attention. But whatever it is, we don’t want politics to be the focal point.

We pray that Hajiji is blessed with good health so that he would come together with us soon,” he told a crowd of about 3,000 at the Umno Sabah Hari Raya open house, Thursday.

“Hopefully it becomes a reality to stabilise Sabah politics. Whatas important is that we look after the people.

“Warisan has always opened its doors to working for a better Sabah and if this is the best option why not we prove it in the next election?” he told reporters.

Asked if any conditions have been imposed for such pact, Jaujan said conditions just complicate matters.

“We are setting aside personal differences to work together and fix the situation in Sabah,” he said.

No Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) representative attended the event.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman, when asked about the absence of GRS leaders at the open house, said: “Representatives from GRS attended my earlier function at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) in Kinarut.

I reckon that is the manifestation of the togetherness between Federal and State Governments."
