Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi recently clarified about the party’s ‘No PKR, no DAP’ stance in a Facebook post today.

In the post, Zahid said that its principle to not work together with Pakatan Harapan (PH) was only applicable during GE15, and not after.

All for political stability

He added that BN’s cooperation with PH was necessary for political stability and to safeguard the people’s welfare, citing the PH-BN led state governments in Pahang and Perak as examples.

This new approach will be a pioneer towards a united and harmonious government to ensure that the focus of development (of the nation) may continue.

“All of this is in line with the formation of the unity government decreed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he wrote.

Zahid, who’s also UMNO president, also insisted that this collaboration did not mean that the party had compromised on its values.

“Umno’s establishment as a vehicle for the progress and empowerment of Malays and Muslims will remain the same and it will continue to defend its policy to adopt a moderate yet progressive attitude to change.”
