PETALING JAYA: Former foreign minister Anifah Aman made a surprise appearance at a Pakatan Harapan (PH) ceramah last night in Sepanggar, Sabah, which was also attended by the coalition’s chairman Anwar Ibrahim.
In his speech, Anifah claimed that Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had promised him a Cabinet post in the new government by making him a senator, but only if he did not contest in GE15, and made way for a BN candidate.
The former Umno man said he turned down the offer, Berita Harian reported.
“That (offer) is not what I want. What I want is for all that’s enshrined in the constitution and Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to be fulfilled. That’s what I’m struggling for,” he said in his speech.
Anifah then announced that he will be backing Anwar and PH candidates in this general election.
The former Kimanis MP left Sabah Umno in September 2018 and joined Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS), where he is the current president.
