KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — The application for Umno membership can be done online when a motion to amend its constitution regarding the matter is approved by the special Umno General Assembly which is scheduled to take place tomorrow, said president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“What will be amended are the clauses regarding the membership application. There is a clause for applications to be made online. What will be presented in the special general assembly is to amend the clause to become a rule.
“So when it becomes a rule, it means that the Supreme Council has the power to amend the rules in terms of membership applications. Even though we have already had an online membership platform, but we will improve the application and approval method,” he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister spoke to reporters after visiting Laman Media (media centre) at the 2023 Umno General Assembly here today. — Bernama
