Zara’s remains sent to QEH for post-mortem

SIPITANG: The remains of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir were exhumed at Tanjung Ubi Cemetery in Kampung Mesapol here on Saturday after a one-and-a-half-hour process.

Her remains were transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Kota Kinabalu, where a post-mortem is scheduled for Sunday morning.

The Papar Magistrate’s Court had earlier granted an exhumation order following a request by the Investigating Officer, with the process witnessed by family members, legal representatives, and relevant authorities.

Zara died on 17 July at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, a day after she was found unconscious and critically injured in a drain near her school dormitory in Papar.
