Zeekr Ignited While Charging Because Accident Repair Was NOT Done Properly

Recently on August 9, a Zeekr 7X electric vehicle overheated and ignited while charging at a charging station in Haishu District, Ningbo, China.

Now, do not jump to any conclusions and read on please.

Firefighters responded to the scene, and no injuries were reported. Zeekr immediately dispatched personnel to the site and established a dedicated task force to assist with the incident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle had recently been involved in a severe collision but had not undergone inspection or repairs at an authorized Zeekr service center.

Zeekr is currently cooperating with fire authorities and relevant departments in on-site inspections and the investigation into the cause of the incident; the final determination will be made by the relevant authorities.

Zeekr reminds customers that after a collision, professional inspections of the vehicle’s power battery, high-voltage system, and body structure are essential, and owners should promptly visit an authorized Zeekr service center for repairs.

High-voltage EV batteries and structural components require certified diagnostic assessments after any hard impact. EV manufacturers across the globe stress utilising official service networks to avoid hidden, critical electrical or chemical degradation risks.

Take note also that when purchasing a used new-energy vehicle (EV), buyers should verify the vehicle’s accident and repair history and have critical components professionally inspected.
