  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticised the repeated visits made by Donald Trump’s envoys to Moscow to meet Vladimir Putin without once travelling to Kyiv, calling it ”disrespectful”.
  • Former real estate magnate turned diplomat Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner have flown to Moscow several times and met Putin as recently in January.
  • The EU is close to unlocking a €90bn loan for Ukraine after Hungary's outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Orban agreed to lift his veto, conditional on the restoration of the Druzhba oil pipeline.
  • Russia's top general claimed 1,700 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory have been taken this year, while Ukraine's commander-in-chief said forces are prioritising counterattacks in weaker Russian areas.
  • Germany and France have proposed limited ”symbolic” or ”associate” EU membership for Ukraine as part of a peace deal, which would grant some benefits but exclude voting rights or full access to shared budgets.
