Germany, Britain and France see Ukraine as being in a far stronger position all round following its recent successful attacks on Russian targets, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday after a video call with his European counterparts.
"The main focus was on how to ensure that diplomacy for peace is reinvigorated and that Europe is part of it," Zelensky wrote on X after consulting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.
"All partners note that Ukraine's position is significantly stronger – both on the battlefield and in our long-range operations," he added, referring to long-range drone strikes on targets deep inside Russia, including oil industry assets vital to the Kremlin's war funding.
Zelensky repeatedly posts videos of burning facilities on social media to underscore Ukraine's growing offensive drone capacity, while Moscow maintains that the situation is under control.
As well as discussing communication with the US side, it was agreed that the countries' national security advisers would soon meet, the Ukrainian president said.
Without providing details, Zelensky said he had also briefed the leaders on Russia's plans regarding Ukraine, Belarus and other parts of Europe.
The sides were to "exchange more detailed available information at the intelligence level," said Zelensky, whose country has with Western help been fighting a Russian invasion since February 2022. "We are doing everything to ensure real peace."
