Zelensky says Russia is carrying out ‘nuclear terrorism’ at Chernobyl

  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Vladimir Putin of "nuclear terrorism" and warned that Russian military activity near Chernobyl risked repeating history.
  • Speaking on the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, Zelensky cited Russian-Iranian Shahed drones regularly flying over the plant, with one striking the confinement last year.
  • He urged the world to prevent this "nuclear terrorism" by forcing Russia to cease its reckless attacks.
  • Separately, North Korea's Kim Jong Un vowed to strengthen military support for Russia after Moscow’s defence minister attended a memorial in Pyongyang.
  • Russian and North Korean officials agreed to "long-term" military cooperation, aiming for a stable footing until 2031.
