Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visits Romania to discuss military support and training before heading to France for further diplomatic talks.
BUCHAREST: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Romania on Thursday for talks with the country’s leadership and a visit to an F-16 fighter jet pilot training centre.
His spokesman, Sergiy Nykyforov, confirmed the president would meet with Romanian President Nicusor Dan and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan during the visit.
The trip to the NATO ally comes amid ongoing regional tensions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, with Romania having reported repeated violations of its airspace and drone fragments falling on its territory.
Zelensky is scheduled to travel to France later in the week for further diplomatic engagements.
