Zetrix AI Bhd has submitted a proposed solution to the Malaysian government to resolve RM314 million in outstanding JPJ remittances following its service suspension.
PETALING JAYA: Zetrix AI Bhd has submitted a proposed solution to the Malaysian government to address outstanding remittances following the temporary suspension of its Road Transport Department (JPJ) services.
The company said it regretted the inconvenience caused to customers and the public by the suspension, which took effect on Oct 5.
“Zetrix AI has submitted a proposed solution to the Government of Malaysia to address the outstanding remittances for their consideration,” it said in a statement.
The company said its immediate priority was to resolve the outstanding obligations and work towards restoring the affected services, subject to the necessary approvals.
The statement followed the Transport Ministry’s decision to suspend My E.G. Services Bhd (MyEG) and Zetrix AI as JPJ collection agents over RM314 million in government revenue that had not been remitted.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the outstanding funds had accumulated between May 19 and Sept 30, and that the ministry had issued 35 reminder notices and held four engagement sessions with the companies and relevant stakeholders before suspending their services.
He said the companies were required under their contractual obligations to remit government collections within one working day of each transaction, known as T+1.
Loke also stressed that the money collected through the platforms belonged to the government and was not the property of the collection agents.
The government has said it will initiate civil and other legal action to recover the outstanding amount, together with applicable late-payment interest.
Zetrix AI, which has provided JPJ services since 2000, said it understood the importance of keeping essential services accessible, reliable and convenient for the public.
It also assured customers who had accessed affected JPJ services before the suspension that their transactions had been duly processed and fulfilled.
Loke previously said transactions already completed through the affected platforms would remain valid.
In the meantime, motorists can access affected JPJ services through alternative channels, including the MyJPJ app, JPJ’s public portal, physical counters and self-service kiosks.
Zetrix AI said it would provide further updates once confirmed information became available.
